How to Try Out for Pro and Entertainment Baseball in 2026

Last checked October 29, 2026. We only list events that have an official, dated source, and we say so when we could not confirm something. Check each official page for changes before you travel or pay.

Pro tryouts are real, but they are scattered across league websites and the dates move. This guide lists what is open now, what is not, and how to get ready.

Dated tryouts we have verified

• November 13 and 14, 2026, Palm Springs, CA: the Power Baseball Partner Leagues Pro Day. Read the full guide. Source: palmspringspowerbaseball.com.
• December 2026: the Pecos League's Western League is listed on its tryout page, with no city, field or fee. We could not confirm details.
• March 5 to 26, 2027, Houston, TX: the Pecos Spring League. Read the full guide. Source: spring.pecosleague.com.

Entertainment baseball: what we could and could not confirm

Cosmic Baseball. The official team site, chilipeppersbaseball.com, describes a ticket lottery for fans. We found no player tryout page. We also could not verify a report of a December 5 tryout, so we are not publishing a guide for it. If you have an invitation, ask the league in writing for the date, place, cost and who else is invited.

Banana Ball. The official site, bananaball.com, has an Employment page, but we found no open tryout or showcase announcement for 2027. Banana Ball also runs camps and tournaments for youth players, which are separate from pro roster tryouts.

Boom Ball. Its announcements describe a touring show, with tour news at boomballtour.com. We found no player tryout. We will add a post the day an official one appears.

Independent pro leagues

These leagues usually run tryout camps in the spring and often finish with a draft, so the next dates are not out yet.

• Frontier League (now the National Association of Professional Baseball, at naprobaseball.com): its 2026 tryout camp and draft was April 20 and 21 at ForeFront Field in Avon, Ohio, with a first-day tryout and a second-day game, per a January 5, 2026 league release. We found no 2027 camp yet. The league's old web address now redirects to naprobaseball.com.
• Atlantic League and American Association: we found no 2027 tryout dates on the official sites.
• Pioneer League: it held tryout camps during 2026. Watch its tryouts page for 2027 camps.

How a pro tryout works

Most start with a short workout: running, throwing and fielding drills, then batting practice, with pitchers throwing in front of evaluators. In some formats, such as the Frontier League's 2026 camp, strong players are invited back for a game and a draft the next day. Fees are common. What you get for the fee varies a lot, so ask.

What evaluators look at

Tools first: speed, arm, power and contact for hitters, velocity, movement and strikes for pitchers. Then makeup: effort, how you handle failure, and whether you are easy to coach. Older players are judged against what they could add to a roster now, so a clear role helps, such as a left-handed reliever or a true shortstop.

Before you pay anyone

• Use the official source for the league you want to play in, never a third-party listing alone.
• Ask what the fee covers and what the refund policy is.
• Ask how many players were signed from the same event last year, and how many attended.
• Ask the league how it treats players from paid showcases and winter leagues. The Pecos League, for example, says it does not accept players from several pay-to-play winter leagues.

Get ready, and keep your options open

Get your swings and bullpens in at a cage near you. If you are open to playing pro or semi-pro baseball outside the US too, add yourself to CageList's player pool, and see US playing pathways for how the American options fit together.
