Verified October 26, 2026: Disney announced on October 15 that the first Banana Ball Open will be played April 15 to 18, 2027, at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. If you are wondering whether to plan a family trip around it, here is what is confirmed, what is still open, and what it means for a kid who watches and wants to play.
What Disney has confirmed
According to Disney's official announcement, the Banana Ball Open is a four-game Banana Ball experience. All six Banana Ball teams take part, with four squads competing head-to-head. The six teams are the Savannah Bananas, Party Animals, Loco Beach Coconuts, Texas Tailgaters, Firefighters and Indianapolis Clowns.
A second Disney release, published the same week, adds practical details. The complex has a 9,500-seat stadium and 16 baseball and softball fields across 220 acres. It also says this is the second Banana Ball event at Walt Disney World, after two games there earlier in 2026.
Tickets and dates: what we know and what we do not
The main announcement does not mention tickets or prices. The second Disney release does: tickets start at $35, and fans can enter the ticket lottery list at BananaBall.com through October 31. As of the day we checked, that leaves only a few days.
Local coverage from FOX 35 Orlando describes the lottery as a random drawing held before the games, after which selected fans can buy tickets. In plain terms, entering does not guarantee you a seat. FOX 35 also reports that the schedule and lineup had not been announced when it published on October 16.
We have not found an official source for seat sections, family packages, parking or any price beyond the $35 starting point. Treat any other number you see as unconfirmed until it shows up on BananaBall.com or Disney's own pages. If you book flights or a hotel before the lottery results, remember you may not get tickets.
What Banana Ball is, for a parent seeing it for the first time
Banana Ball is a faster, louder version of baseball with its own rulebook. The official rules page lists 11 rules. A few that a kid will notice right away:
- Every inning is worth one point, and no new inning can start after two hours.
- If the hitter steps out of the box, it is a strike.
- Bunting is not allowed, and a hitter who bunts is ejected.
- There are no walks. Ball four becomes a sprint, and every defensive player must touch the ball before it becomes live.
- If a fan catches a foul ball cleanly, it is an out.
- There are no mound visits.
The two-hour clock matters for a family because no new inning can start after the two-hour mark. For how Banana Ball compares with other entertainment formats, see our explainer on Banana Ball, Cosmic Baseball and Boom Ball.
If your kid wants to play, not just watch
A kid who falls for Banana Ball will go back to their own team on Monday, and their league will still play by its own rules. That is worth saying out loud before the trip. The no-bunting and no-walks rules belong to the Banana Ball league, not to youth baseball or travel ball, so a child who plays standard baseball still has to bunt, take walks and handle mound visits the usual way.
What does carry over is the thing that got them excited: swinging hard, running the bases and enjoying the plate. That is a good reason to get extra swings in. Why this matters to CageList
Entertainment baseball is a new front door to the game. A family may meet baseball through a show like this and not through a Little League sign-up. The gap is what happens next: the kid wants to hit, and the family may not know where to practice. Closing that gap between interest and a place to train is what CageList is for.
You can browse cages and training spaces near you, look for a coach on our coaches page, or read how to build one in your own yard in our guide to how to build a batting cage. CageList is not tied to any Banana Ball team, and none of those pages offer tickets or access to the event.
A simple plan before October 31
- Decide whether your family wants to attend before you enter the lottery. Entering is a chance to buy, not a ticket.
- Check BananaBall.com and Disney's pages for schedule updates, since FOX 35 reported it had not been released.
- Hold off on non-refundable travel until you know whether you were selected.
- Use the months before April to get your kid real swings, so the trip feels like a reward for the work.
