Host Spotlight: Santiago's Backyard Cage in Chula Vista, CA

Not every hitter needs a 70-foot facility — sometimes you just want a clean, private cage to knock the rust off before the season. That's exactly what Santiago Rodriguez offers in Chula Vista.
The cage
Santiago's outdoor cage measures 30 feet long, 12 feet wide, and 10 feet tall — a tidy, focused space that's perfect for tee work, front toss, and getting your swing back in shape. As he puts it, it's a "great cage to get ready for the baseball season." The setup is natural grass with a turf batting mat, and it comes with an L-screen so you can safely feed live reps. LED lighting keeps evening sessions going, and there's a seating area on site. Sessions run $35/hour, one of the friendlier rates around, and a hitting tee is available as an add-on if you didn't bring your own.
The host
Santiago is a little league and travel-ball manager and coach who's been coaching for the past four years — so he knows what a productive, no-frills hitting session looks like, and he's opened his cage up to hitters around Chula Vista who need one.
