At just $20/hour, this backyard batting cage in North Highlands, CA is one of the most affordable ways anywhere to get real, lighted reps, opened up by a fellow ballplayer who simply wanted to share his cage with other players.

The cage

This outdoor cage measures 11 feet wide, 12 feet tall, and 50 feet long, built with #30 HDPE knotted netting rated to a 165-pound breaking strength over a dirt field, sturdy, well-made netting that stands up to real machine work. It comes with an L-screen, baseballs, and a hitting tee, with lights for night sessions, a seating area, and on-site parking. Ice-cold water and other beverages are available as small, inexpensive add-ons if you want them. Sessions are $20/hour.

Who it's for

It's a great pick for a solo hitter or a small group of up to 7 who just want quality reps without spending much, the price makes it easy to book regularly rather than as a splurge. The lights make evening sessions simple after school or work, so you can fit hitting in around a busy schedule.

The host

Jesus keeps it warm and simple, a "fellow baseball player with a cage to share." That's the whole spirit of this one: a player helping other players get their swings in, at a price that keeps the game accessible. There's no upsell here, just an honest, useful cage.
