In Moody, a multi-sport family built a backyard batting cage in Moody, AL that truly looks the part, 70 feet of turf, a professionally made pitching mound, and the kind of setup that turns an ordinary backyard into a real training ground.

The cage

This outdoor cage runs 70 feet long, 12 feet wide, and a tall 20 feet, laid over 70 feet of turf on a graded, flat surface. It comes with an L-cage, a pitching machine, a hitting tee, and both baseballs and softballs, along with a professionally made wooden pitching mound complete with its own turf floor, a genuine touch you rarely see in a backyard cage. Restroom access and a sound system are on site, and extra baseballs and additional machine time are available as add-ons when you want more. Sessions are $45/hour.

Who it's for

The full length and true, properly built mound make it a strong fit for hitters and pitchers alike, from focused solo work all the way up to a group of 10. Because both baseballs and softballs are on hand, baseball and softball players are equally covered, and the graded turf surface keeps footing consistent for everyone.

The host

Jared's family is a "Baseball/Softball/Football/Volleyball family," and the care they put in shows everywhere you look, a graded surface, full-length turf, and a professionally built mound aren't shortcuts or afterthoughts. This is a home cage someone clearly invested real work and pride into, and it's better for it.

Good to know

It's an outdoor turf cage with a restroom and sound system on site, built on a flat, graded surface for reliable footing. The house-rules list is thorough: turf-friendly shoes only (no cleats), no pets, food, seeds, or gum, no glass, and no smoking or alcohol, and keep the music down.
