In Mentor, there's a backyard batting cage in Mentor, OH that started as a place for three brothers to hit, a backyard cage a baseball family built so they could spend more quality time together, now open for other players to use.

The cage

This outdoor cage is 66 feet long, 14 feet wide, and 12 feet tall, with an L-screen, baseballs, a hitting tee, and enough room for infield work. Parking is on site, and for players who want live-speed reps there's an Iron Mike pitching machine loaded with low-seam baseballs available as an add-on, a real upgrade over soft toss when a hitter is ready to face something faster. Sessions start at just $25/hour, making it one of the more affordable full-size backyard cages you'll find anywhere.

Who it's for

It's built for individual and family sessions of up to 6 hitters, a solo player grinding out swings, or a parent tossing to a kid after school. With the Iron Mike add-on it handles machine reps too, and the infield room means fielding drills are on the table. As a home cage, it's set up for personal and family use rather than full team practices.

The host

Aaron and his family put it plainly: "We are a baseball family with 3 boys who love to spend quality time hitting in our backyard batting cage." That quality time is exactly what this cage is about (a place a family built for each other) and now they share it with the neighborhood so other families can do the same.

Good to know

It's a private backyard cage with a clear, thorough house-rules list: turf-friendly shoes only (no cleats), no pets, no outside food, gum, or seeds, and no smoking or alcohol. Sessions are for individuals and families only. Parking is on site, and the Iron Mike machine is there when you want to add real velocity to a session.
