The BellCon cage, a serious backyard batting cage in Long Beach, CA, is built for players who "come to work, not to play," and Fernando Hernández opened his up for exactly that kind of focused hitter.

The cage

Fernando's outdoor cage runs 50 feet long, 14 wide, and 14 tall, and it's dialed in for both games: a baseball pitching machine and a fast-pitch softball machine, an L-screen, a hitting tee, and both baseballs and softballs on hand. Lighting keeps evening work going and a sound system sets the pace. Sessions are $50/hour, and the cage holds up to twelve guests (ten included) so a full group can share the reps.

Who it's for

With two machines and space for a group, this cage suits baseball and softball players alike, solo hitters, families, or a squad rotating through, with room for up to twelve guests. The description says it plainly: this is a place "centered on growth and development of your game," so it's built for players who want to put in real work rather than mess around. Having both a baseball and a fast-pitch softball machine on-site is rare in a backyard cage, and it means a mixed group can all get quality reps.

The host

Fernando asks one thing up front ("We do have neighbors, please have some respect") and in return offers a well-equipped, no-nonsense cage. It's the kind of backyard setup that takes real investment to build and maintain, shared with hitters who take their game seriously. The BellCon name and the "come to work, not to play" attitude tell you exactly what you're getting: a serious room for serious reps.

Good to know

Be mindful of the neighbors and keep it respectful. House rules: no pets, no smoking, no seeds, no gum, no cleats, no glass. Lighting means evening sessions are no problem; it's outdoor and uncovered, so plan around the weather. At 50 feet long and a roomy 14-foot ceiling, there's plenty of space for a full swing, and sessions run $50/hour.
