Set behind the house in a private corner of Georgia, this backyard batting cage in Lilburn, GA pairs an auto-fed pitching machine with real privacy, the kind of setup Jon Mikel wanted for himself, then opened up so other hitters could use it too.

The cage

Jon's outdoor cage runs 45 feet long, 15 wide, and 15 tall, with an auto-fed pitching machine as the centerpiece, plus an L-screen, a hitting tee, and baseballs. The auto-feeder means steady, repeatable reps without anyone standing in to load the machine. Sessions are $35/hour (one of the more affordable rates around) and the cage can hold up to ten guests, with three included.

Who it's for

The auto-fed machine makes this a strong fit for solo hitters and parent-and-player sessions who want consistent timing work, and there's room for a small group to rotate through, up to ten guests, with three included. As Jon puts it, "my location, privacy, and pitching machine" are what make it a suitable choice for renting. The auto-feeder is the difference-maker: you get a steady stream of pitches without anyone standing in to load, so a solo hitter can run a full session alone.

The host

Jon describes himself as a "former US Federal Agent, Military Veteran, and Baseball Hitting Enthusiast." That last part shows in the details, an auto-feeder, a private setting, and a cage kept in real working order for anyone serious about their swing. It's the kind of setup built by someone who clearly cares about doing it right, and at $35/hour it stays accessible for regular reps.

Good to know

Privacy is a selling point here, so it's a quiet place to focus. House rules keep it tidy: no seeds, no cleats, no smoking, no glass, no pets, no food, and no gum. It's outdoor and uncovered, so plan around the weather. At 45 feet long and a tall 15-foot ceiling, there's plenty of room to take a full, unrestricted swing.
