Backyard Batting Cage in Lathrop, CA

The Islanders Batting Cage — a family-run backyard batting cage in Lathrop, CA — started as a place for Stan Lopez's own boys to hit, and now it's open so other players can get their reps without any hassle.
The cage
Stan's outdoor cage measures 30 feet long, 10 wide, and 10 tall, and covers both games: a baseball pitching machine and a fast-pitch softball machine, an L-screen, a hitting tee, and both baseballs and softballs on hand. Parking, seating, and music are included. Sessions are just $25/hour and fit up to three guests — a straightforward, affordable spot to get swings in.
Who it's for
With two machines and a tee, this cage suits baseball and softball players alike — a solo hitter, a parent throwing a session, or a player working timing off the machine. It's an individual-focused cage, kept quiet and available for your own work, with room for up to three guests. Having both a baseball and a fast-pitch softball machine at $25/hour makes it an easy, affordable spot for a family with players in both sports.
The host
Stan tells the story himself: "My boys have been playing baseball since they were 4 years old and love this game. I always wanted to have a place where they can just go out and hit balls in the backyard without having to go to the park." He built exactly that, then opened it up — "We welcome you to come work with us and get your reps without any hassle." That the whole thing grew out of wanting a place for his own kids to hit is what gives it its family-first feel. You can follow along at @islanders_batting_cage on Instagram.
Good to know
This is an individual cage — team practices aren't offered, so it stays calm and available. Be respectful of the homeowners, and note the house rules: no alcohol, smoking, food, seeds, gum, cleats, glass, or pets. Parking and seating are on-site, and Stan invites you to reach out anytime if you need a hand during your session.
