A short, focused backyard batting cage in Chula Vista, CA is exactly what a lot of players need to get ready for the season, and this one, kept up by a Little League and travel coach, delivers clean reps without the drive to a commercial facility.

The cage

Santiago's private outdoor cage runs 30 feet long, 12 wide, and 10 tall, with LED lighting for evening sessions and a seating area for anyone watching. It's floored with a turf batting mat over natural grass and comes with an L-screen, with a hitting tee available as an add-on. Sessions run $35/hour, a straightforward, well-kept space to get your work in.

Who it's for

At 30 feet with room for up to three guests, this cage is built for solo hitters and small sessions: a player getting tee and front-toss reps, or a parent or coach working one-on-one with a hitter. It's a great fit for tuning up your swing ahead of the baseball season.

The host

Santiago has coached Little League and travel baseball for the past four years, managing and developing young players. He keeps this cage ready as a simple, reliable place for hitters in the area to get consistent reps, and he built it to help players get ready for the baseball season without the hassle of a paid facility.

Good to know

The cage is private with a seating area and LED lights for evening use, and the turf batting mat over natural grass gives a clean, consistent hitting surface. House rules are on the stricter side to keep it clean and safe (no food, gum, seeds, cleats, or team practices) so plan for focused individual or small-group hitting. Bring your own machine or balls if you want more than tee and toss work, or add a hitting tee at booking.
