This backyard batting cage in Camarillo, CA was built by a family that loves the game, and it shows in how welcoming a place it is to get your swings in, whether you play baseball or softball.

The cage

This is a 35x12x12 outdoor cage, lit for nighttime use so evening sessions are never a problem. It comes with a 12-foot Jugs sting-free pitching machine, an L-screen for safe feeding, LED lighting for after-dark reps, and a batting tee for detail work. The sting-free machine balls are a real plus, you get plenty of volume without the sore hands, which matters a lot for younger hitters. Softball players are welcome here too. Sessions run $35/hour, an easy, affordable way to grab reps without the crowds and cost of a commercial facility.

Who it's for

Great for both experienced and beginner players, whether you're a young athlete just learning to hit or a veteran keeping your timing sharp. The Jugs machine and open-air setup make it comfortable for solo work, a parent tossing to a kid, or a small group rotating through the tee and the machine at their own pace.

The host

Johnny and his family describe themselves as people "who love softball, and teaching it to our younger athletes." That teaching spirit is the whole point of this cage, it's a place they built to pass the game along to their own kids, and now they've opened it up so other families can do the same. There's real heart behind a setup like this, and it comes through in the welcome.

Good to know

The cage is lit for nighttime, so you're not limited to daylight hours, a big convenience for after-school or after-work sessions. Being a private backyard setup, you get a relaxed, no-pressure environment to work at your own pace, with the space and equipment to yourself.
