Backyard Batting Cage in Ashland, MA

This backyard batting cage in Ashland, MA belongs to a family that genuinely misses the sound of a bat on a ball — and they'd love to hear it ringing through their yard again.
The cage
The cage measures 60 feet long, 14 feet wide, and 10 feet tall — a full tunnel with room for real batting practice, right in a MetroWest backyard. It's an open-air setup for baseball, ideal for working through a session at your own pace without the crowds or the clock of a commercial facility. Sessions run $55/hour, and here's the part that sets it apart: if you time it well, the host is happy to throw, toss, or simply observe and offer some insight while you hit. That kind of hands-on help is rare, and it can turn an ordinary session into a genuine coaching opportunity.
Who it's for
Built for baseball players at any level, this cage fits a solo hitter putting in reps, a parent working with a young ballplayer, or a player who wants a knowledgeable set of eyes on their swing. The full 60-foot length gives everyone room to move and take real cuts rather than crowd into a short lane.
The host
Glenn has been a high school teacher and baseball coach for 34 years — his son plays high school and travel ball, and his live-in nephew just finished a college career. "Rarely is anyone home using the cage," he says, and he and his wife "would enjoy hearing the sound of a bat in the cage" again. With 35 years of coaching across every level from little league through college, he's a rare host: one who can actually help you get better while you're there, if you want the input.
Good to know
This is a real home the family loves, so expect a warm, low-key setting rather than a busy facility feel. Ask about timing if you'd like Glenn to help throw or offer coaching insight — that hands-on option is a big part of what makes this cage special, and it's not something you'll find at most places.
