Behind a full-time Oklahoma City firefighter's house sits an indoor batting cage in McLoud, OK that started as a place for one dad to work with his kids, and grew into the spot the whole neighborhood knows to ask about. Bryan built "Tap's Bullpen" inside his own shop, and now other hitters get to use it too.
The cage
The tunnel runs 50 feet long inside a covered 40'x55' turfed shop, so weather is never the reason a session gets skipped. It comes stocked with baseballs, softballs, and a hitting tee, and the space is lit and wired for music. Sessions are $25/hour. There's parking for 10-plus cars, an outside basketball court, and a play area out back, handy when a younger sibling tags along.
Who it's for
With room for up to 10 guests, this works for a solo hitter grinding out reps, a parent throwing to a kid, or a small group splitting cage time. Bryan's own oldest boy runs hitting and fielding lessons here, so it's a proven setup for real instruction, not just casual swings.
The host
Bryan Tapley is a father of four, a full-time OKC fireman, and a former University of Central Oklahoma wrestler. He built this cage for his own family first (that shows in how it's set up) and opening it to other hitters is a natural extension of that. When the guy who owns the cage is the one coaching his kid in it, you know it's cared for.
Good to know
Everything's indoors and covered, so it's a year-round option regardless of Oklahoma weather. House rules keep it clean and simple: no cleats, seeds, gum, glass, pets, alcohol, or smoking. Parking is easy with space for 10-plus vehicles, and the outdoor court and play area give kids somewhere to burn energy before or after.
