This indoor batting cage in Athens, AL is part of a 5,000-square-foot training facility run by a full-time hitting instructor, a full-length turf lane with everything from tees to a HitTrax, priced at a genuinely remarkable $20 an hour.

The cage

The cage is full length at 70 feet long, 14 wide, and 13 tall, fully turfed and indoors with electricity and every tool you'd expect, from tees on up to a HitTrax. It comes with baseballs and softballs, a pitching machine, hitting mats, and L-screens, plus lighting, music, a restroom, and parking. Sessions run just $20 an hour (an unusually low rate for a facility this well equipped) and HitTrax tracking is available as a $25 add-on for players who want the numbers on their swing.

Who it's for

With room for up to nine guests and a full 70-foot lane, this space handles solo hitters, small groups, and team-style reps with ease. Both baseball and softball players are covered, and the HitTrax add-on makes it a strong fit for anyone who wants exit-velocity and launch-angle data to guide their work rather than guessing at results.

The host

Joseph played at Elkmont High and Shelton State from 2007 to 2009 and now runs individual lessons full time out of a facility on his own property. "I'm a huge baseball guy, so I will come out and visit and help," he says, and living within 200 feet of the cages means that hands-on coaching is genuinely available when you book, not just a line in a listing.

Good to know

The HitTrax add-on turns a normal session into a measurable one, which is rare at this price point and a real reason to consider it. House rules are simple: no cleats, no pets, no smoking, no alcohol or glass. Lighting, music, a restroom, and parking are all on site, and the indoor turf space is usable year-round no matter the weather.
