Host Spotlight: Grant's Pro-Grade Backyard Cage in Vancouver, WA

Grant Bennett set out to build a cage his two boys would actually want to hit in, and ended up with one of the more complete backyard setups in Vancouver, Washington. This Cage Spotlight — jerky included — is a fun one.
The cage
Grant's outdoor cage runs a full 55-plus feet on a turf field over a rock-and-sand base — no concrete — built to pro standards. The equipment is dialed in: a Bata 1 pitching machine with 48 machine balls, 100-plus regulation baseballs, a Tanner batting tee, an L-screen, a soft-toss station, a nine-pocket throwing net, and a full-size pitching mound. It's a very private space with seating, and it's a genuine bargain at $25/hour on weekends. Oh, and you can fuel up on some all-natural pellet-smoked Pursuit Of Jerky while you're there.
The host
Grant tells it straight: "I started this project about a year ago and quickly realized how much goes into building a professional-grade batting cage. With two boys who love baseball, I wanted to create a space that would keep them practicing, improving, and having fun right in our own backyard." What began as a family project became something the whole community gets to enjoy.
