Hitting Principles
Less about mechanics, more about the mindset we want a hitter carrying into every at-bat.
At CageList we care less about a hitter's mechanics and more about the mindset they carry into the box.
01
The mental approach, Q&A
- Does it matter what bat you use?
- No. Mentally, it doesn't matter what bat you're using. You've already made a decision in your mind that you're going to crush the ball with whatever hitting stick is in your hand. A higher quality bat can definitely provide more “pop” and explosion off the bat, but too often it's used as an excuse for why you're not hitting.
- Do umpires make bad calls?
- All the time.
- Will I get hit by the ball, and will it hurt?
- Of course. It's part of the game.
02
Once the bat leaves their hands
- What am I thinking out of the batter's box?
- Double.
- When should I slide?
- Always. Anytime there's a close play.
