What am I thinking in the batter's box?
If I can reach it, I'm smashing it.
Does it matter what bat you use?
No — mentally, it doesn't matter what bat you're using. You've already made a decision in your mind that you're going to crush the ball with whatever hitting stick is in your hand. A higher quality bat can definitely provide more “pop” and explosion off the bat, but too often it's used as an excuse for why you're not hitting.
Do umpires make bad calls?
All the time.
Will I get hit by the ball, and will it hurt?
Of course. It's part of the game.

Double.
When should I slide?
Always. Anytime there's a close play.
