Host Spotlight: Royal's Covered Batting Cage in Carson City, NV

Royal built his Carson City cage the way a coach would — covered, lit, and ready to go year-round — and then opened it up to hitters across the area who needed somewhere reliable to keep their swing sharp.

The cage

This is a covered, indoor cage running 35 feet long, 13 wide and 12 tall — a tidy, focused space built for consistent, distraction-free reps. It's set up for both baseball and softball, with baseballs and softballs provided, a baseball pitching machine to keep the pace up, an L-screen for front toss, and a batting tee for isolating your mechanics. LED lighting means the session doesn't stop when the sun does, which matters through a long Nevada winter, and there's a seating area for family and teammates, parking, a restroom, and music on site. At $20/hour, it's an affordable, no-excuses place to keep hitting when the weather outside says otherwise.

The host

As Royal says, he's "been in baseball since I was a kid" and has spent the last six years coaching. He wanted an indoor space "for my team and others' personal use," and this cage is exactly that — built by a coach, shared with the community.
