Host Spotlight: John's Barn-Built Athletics Cage in Cascilla, MS

John's Barn Built Athletics cage in Cascilla is a hitter's workshop — a fully-turfed, climate-friendly barn setup that welcomes players from youth all the way to the pros. It's the kind of complete space you'd expect from a dedicated training center, tucked into rural Mississippi.
The cage
This is a 70-foot covered cage, fully turfed with fans and lights for comfortable year-round hitting no matter the humidity outside. The machine lineup is genuinely impressive: a stationary Iron Mike that throws baseballs or softballs, plus an available Jugs pitching machine and an ATEC softball machine — so fastpitch and slowpitch softball players are as well covered here as baseball hitters. There's an L-screen and your choice of hitting aids, from a Tanner tee to a swing-path trainer to an attack tee, letting hitters dial in exactly the drill they came to do. Beyond the cage, there are baseball and softball bullpen mounds for pitchers and room for infield work, so a whole team can rotate through hitting, throwing, and fielding. Add a restroom, seating for the folks watching, a sound system, and parking, and it's a genuinely complete space. Sessions run $50/hour, and the setup handles everyone from youth players to high school, college, and professional athletes.
