Host Spotlight: Herb's Indoor Batting Cage in Wheeling, IL

"The Ranch" is the kind of name that tells you the host means business, and Herb in Wheeling backs it up. His indoor facility is built for serious baseball work, from hitting to bullpens, all under one roof.
The cage
Herb's indoor cage runs 60 feet long, 12 wide, and 12 high — fully covered for year-round training no matter what an Illinois winter throws at it. What really sets The Ranch apart is the pitching setup: "2 pitching machines and 2 mounds for bullpens," so hitters and pitchers can both get genuine, game-realistic work in during the same session. It's stocked with baseballs and softballs, an L-screen, a hitting tee, a bullpen mound, and enough space for infield work, which makes it a true all-around training space rather than just a single lane. There's restroom access and parking on site, and for players who want to build strength alongside their reps, weight-room memberships are available too. Sessions run $30/hour, which is a strong value for a facility this well-equipped.
The host
Herb keeps the intro simple: "Herb Plucinski, Owner/Head Coach, Ranchers Baseball." He's a coach who built a space his own program uses every week and opened it up to the wider Wheeling baseball community — exactly the kind of host CageList was made for.
