Batting Cage Listing Guidelines for Cage Owners
Welcome to CageList, the premier platform connecting batting cage owners with players and coaches worldwide. By listing your batting cage, you’re not only contributing to the growth of baseball and softball but also creating opportunities for your space to thrive as a community resource.
This guide outlines everything you need to know to maintain a high-quality, safe, and successful listing. It is divided into three key sections:
- Safety & Batting Cage Inspection
- Managing Bookings & Best Practices
- Promoting Your Batting Cage Listing
1. Safety & Batting Cage Inspection
Ensuring the safety and quality of your batting cage is paramount for providing a top-tier experience for renters and protecting your investment. Adhering to these guidelines helps ensure a positive experience for all parties.
Ownership
- You must own or have explicit authorization to list the batting cage on CageList.
- Subletting or unauthorized listings are strictly prohibited.
Quality Standards
To create a professional and reliable experience, all listed batting cages must meet the following standards:
- Durability: Cages must be professionally constructed or of commercial-grade quality. DIY or unsafe setups are not permitted.
- Netting: Ensure netting is intact, free of holes or tears, and capable of withstanding high-speed pitches and hits.
- Framing: Frames must be sturdy, properly secured, and able to handle regular use and weather conditions.
- Turf/Flooring: Floors should be clean, level, and free from tripping hazards.
- Pitching Machines: Machines must be in working order, regularly maintained, and safe to operate.
- Lighting: For nighttime use, provide adequate lighting that is bright, evenly distributed, and safe.
Safety Standards
Your batting cage must meet the following safety criteria:
- Enclosure: Ensure the cage is fully enclosed with proper netting to prevent balls from exiting the area.
- Structural Integrity: Regularly inspect the cage for stability and address any issues promptly.
- Clearances: Maintain adequate clearance around the cage to prevent interference from surrounding objects.
- Signage: Include clear signage with:
- Safety instructions
- Rules for cage use
- Emergency contact information
- Protective Measures: Provide helmets and other safety equipment for rent or clearly state renters must bring their own.
- First Aid: Keep a first aid kit readily available on-site.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential for quality and safety:
- Inspect the cage weekly for wear and tear.
- Promptly repair or replace damaged netting, framing, or equipment.
- Clean the area regularly to create a welcoming environment.
- Test all equipment, including pitching machines, before each rental.
Insurance and Legal Protection
While CageList works to provide insurance options, we strongly recommend obtaining liability insurance for your batting cage. This adds an extra layer of protection for you and your renters.
Additionally, all users of the CageList platform must agree to our Liability Waiver during the booking process. This waiver helps protect batting cage owners by clearly outlining the responsibilities and risks associated with using the facility. By having renters agree to this waiver, you can feel more secure about hosting rentals through CageList. It's one more way we’re working to make listing your batting cage a safe and stress-free experience.
2. Managing Bookings & Best Practices
Creating a seamless experience for your renters ensures your batting cage is frequently booked and builds trust in the CageList community.
Creating and Managing Your Listing
- High-Quality Photos: Upload clear, professional photos that showcase your batting cage, amenities, and unique features.
- Detailed Descriptions: Highlight key features such as pitching machines, lighting, L-screens, or covered areas.
- Pricing: Set a competitive hourly rate. We suggest starting low and building demand. You can always raise the price later.
- Availability Calendar: Keep your availability calendar updated to avoid booking conflicts.
Communication
- Responsiveness: Respond promptly to renter inquiries before, during, and after bookings.
- Messaging: Use the CageList messaging system for transparency and security.
- Professionalism: Be courteous and professional in all interactions.
Payment Processing
- All payments must go through the CageList platform. Offline transactions or sharing personal payment details is not permitted.
On-Site Presence
- For rentals with more than five players, either the owner or a representative must be on-site to oversee safety and enforce rules.
- While not mandatory for smaller bookings, being on-site is highly recommended to assist with setup and ensure a smooth experience.
Neighborly Conduct
Respecting your neighbors and community is essential:
- Notify neighbors about your batting cage rentals to avoid surprises.
- Limit noise levels and adhere to local noise ordinances.
- Set reasonable operating hours to prevent disturbances.
- Manage guest parking to ensure it doesn’t inconvenience neighbors or violate regulations.
Encourage Positive Reviews
- Provide excellent service and a clean, well-maintained cage.
- Politely ask satisfied renters to leave reviews, which will boost your listing’s visibility and credibility.

The following are not allowed on CageList:
- Batting cages in poor condition or with substandard materials.
